Organizational SummaryGoodwill Industries of West Michigan is a non-profit organization headquartered in Muskegon, MI. We serve our community by providing employment development services and placement assistance for employment. Our programs are supported with profits generated primarily through the sale of donated goods in our Retail Stores. We have 17 retail stores and 2 employment and training centers operating in a region spanning Manistee to Holland to Cedar Springs.
Job SummaryAssists in the construction, alterations, repair, and general preventative maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, (GIWM).
Responsibilities
  • Facilitates or assists in completion of departmental tasks such as facility and equipment maintenance and repair, grounds work, construction-related projects, and manufacturing support.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting tasks on systems and recommends a course of action to Maintenance Manager.
  • Completes assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Completes help desk tickets and projects as assigned.
  • Assists in support for other GIWM departments as required to meet organizational needs and growth.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings measures as it relates to preventative maintenance, sustainability measures, or organizational efforts.

Education
  • GED/diploma preferred
Experience
  • 2 years of experience in general maintenance including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, construction, or other trade functions required
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required
  • Scissor lift license preferred
  • Powered industrial truck license preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Mobility: Required to stand; frequently walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • Dexterity: Requires hands to manipulate, feel, reach, lift and/or carry.
  • Sensory: Able to see objects, colors at close range or distance, peripheral, and depth vision, communicate orally with normal hearing decibel.
  • Lifting: Medium work (frequently lifts and/or carries 25 to 50 lbs. using safety measures in place.)
  • Foot or leg controls: Use of one or both feet or legs to move controls on machinery or equipment.
  • Driving: The operation of a motorized passenger vehicle or other vehicles such as forklifts.
  • Climbing: Such as ladders or scaffolding
Other Requirements
  • Maintain a reliable vehicle
  • Frequently travel within GIWM territory (generally in agency vehicle)
  • Occasionally participate in evening and weekend on-call rotation (Company phone options provided)
  • Occasionally available to work after-hours for special projects
  • Occasionally working from a ladder, scissor lift, or other heights
