Goodwill Mission Services/Administration is Hiring an Employment Specialist Near Rockford, IL

The Pathway Home Employment Specialist will work with adults, providing pre- and post-release workforce services for eligible, incarcerated individuals in the Winnebago County Jail. The Employment Specialist will provide services such as career exploration, job placement services, and developing partnerships with employers in the local community. The Employment Specialist will be held accountable to meeting workforce metrics for the participants in the program.

Job responsibilities and essential functions include:

Participant Management

  • Implement and monitor individual development plans by overseeing outcomes of goals and objectives.

  • Coordinate community resources and supportive services for participants.

  • Identify and assist participants with work opportunities through standard job development activities.

  • Assess participants with job readiness by implementing tools including Virtual Reality, Mock interviews, and employer feedback.

  • Instruct participants in job seeking and job retention skills.

  • Assess and address participant’s education and support needs.

  • Maintain participant confidentiality at all times.

  • Provide follow up services to assist participators with maintaining community employment.

Community Partnerships

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships and relationships with local employers and support services in the community.

  • Develop and research job opportunities in the community to identify a wide range of positions for participants.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with participants and program staff.

Administrative

  • Ensure program is in compliance with the funding guidelines and performance outcomes set by funder.

  • Create and manage detailed case notes in database in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for enforcing program guidelines and following policies.

  • Follow the routine duties set forth by Mission Services staff.

Qualifications & Basic Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field such as human services, psychology, or social work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Three to five years of experience, preferred, working in human service.
  • Knowledge of community resources and case management standards.
  • Ability to collaborate and cultivate community resources.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with basic computer navigation and word processing skills are essential.

Compensation Range: $22-24/hour
