The Program Directors play an important role in meeting this mission. First,in their roleas Faculty members, they engage students, foster learning, role model professionalism, and ultimately produce competently educated students whoare preparedfor professional careers.In their designated role as Program Directors, theyalso have the responsibility ofdeveloping and maintaining their programs. This position will ideally commence in August, 2024.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

Program Director Responsibilities:
Faculty designated as Program Directors are responsible forthe oversight and management oftheir specific program curricula.To meet thisresponsibilityProgram Directors must:
  • Review program curriculum to ensure materials are up-to-date
  • Review courses within their respective programs
  • Review textbooks, equipment, and materials
  • Create and modify course control documents as necessary
  • Work with course coordinators to ensure consistency of delivery across courses and tracks
  • Meet with local advisory boards to ensure programs meet community/employer needs
  • Prepare for and facilitate annual faculty retreats to ensure programs are up-to-date
  • Collaborate with the chief nurse Administrator to ensure that accreditation standardsare met
  • Assist with the hiring and mentoring of new faculty
Faculty Responsibilities:
As Faculty Members, Program Directors are also responsible for course delivery in their departments.Thisincludes the following core areas:
  • Prepare course plans and materials
  • Delivery of courses:
  • Monitor the progress of students
  • Advise students
  • Record grades and submit Reports
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill :
The Program Director must be willing to perform other duties that willserve to meet the needs of the departmentand promote student learning and success.
  • All Program Directors must have education and relevant expertise within their specific discipline related to the program orspecificcourses they teach. Program Directors must also have knowledge ofAcademic Administration,Curriculum Development &BusinessPlanning
  • Management communicating with and facilitating discussions among a diverse range of highly educated professionals across a variety of disciplines
  • Goal setting settingreasonable,yet hightargets,and creating a plan for attaining those targets
  • Planning organizing and prioritizing the needs and goals of several programs and departments
  • Demonstratedcommitment to promote diversity, equity, andinclusion,and work in an environment in which all members of the University communityare treatedwith respect and dignity.
Qualifications
Program Directors oversee the development and monitor the delivery of academic programs and are responsible for ensuring a quality education for students in their programs. The Program Director of Nursing must have:
  • A Doctoratedegree
  • Four (4) years of experience in the field
  • RN License in the state of Connecticut
Education, Training, and Experience:
Experience in an academic environment,andparticularly in a career college environment, isof great importance.Work experience in the following areas is highly valued:
  • Academic administration (college/university level)
  • Career college teaching/management (program/department chair)
