Summary:
Plan, provide and schedule all aspects of the Gardens Life Enrichment Program for up to 30 residents.
Requires a great deal of creativity and flexibility.
Primary Purpose:
This position is part of the Management Team and is responsible for all aspects of the programming and activity services for the community.
This position is one requiring a great deal of creativity and flexibility. The Life Enrichment Director ensures the activities are always staffed as well as residents are adequately engaged.
The Life Enrichment Director is an integral part of assuring that the environment is consistently therapeutic, by role modeling appropriate interactions with the residents, staff and families.
The Life Enrichment Director provides ongoing direction to resident assistants to help carry out some activities as needed. He/she assists in training direct care staff in programming procedures.
Occasionally weekend or holiday hours may be required.
Qualifications/Skills needed:
The successful candidate should have experience related to working with a geriatric population.
Must possess effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills and ability to establish rapport with residents and families.
Must be creative, caring, and able to work under stress.
Professional conduct, honoring boundaries, setting limits and maintaining confidentiality is a must.
Must be able to plan activity schedules that meet the residents’ body and mind needs while maintaining budgetary constraints.
Must be able to identify and maintain the supplies for programing with approval by executive director.
Ability to rotate work schedules to accommodate emergencies and special events is required.
Applies skills of problem-solving techniques to promote cooperation and support from others. Receives and integrates feedback from the team in an open manner. Demonstrates willingness to cooperate with others with a positive attitude.
