Primary Responsibilities

● Write efficient, reusable, and reliable back-end code using Node.js, NPM, TypeScript,

and other relevant technologies.

● Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications, APIs, and databases to ensure they

meet business requirements and user needs.

● Collaborate with back-end engineers and other stakeholders to build scalable and

reliable web applications that deliver exceptional user experiences.

● Design, implement, and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases for our applications and

systems (PostgreSQL and MongoDB).

● Develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs to facilitate communication between the back-end

and back-end systems.

● Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability using industry best practices

and tools.

● Test, debug, and troubleshoot applications to ensure they meet functional and

non-functional requirements.

● Document code, systems, processes, and update/maintain internal documentation to

facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.

● Identify user, system, and functional requirements for new projects and tasks through

research, analysis, and communication with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Every applicant is expected to have substantial experience with back-end development.

Additionally, the ideal candidate for this position has the following qualifications:

● Minimum of 5 years of experience working with web technologies, including back-end

development.

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field(s).

● Expertise in at least one programming language, preferably JavaScript or TypeScript.

● Proven experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including

requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

● Experience designing, querying, and managing databases using SQL and/or NoSQL

technologies.

● Strong experience creating RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.

● Extensive programming experience in server-side languages, preferably Node.js, and

related frameworks such as Express.js or Axios.

● Rigorous understanding of security best practices and implementation, including

authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection.

● Proficiency in Git and a strong understanding of the GitHub workflow for version control

and collaboration.

● Strong familiarity with common data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.

● Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.

Supplementary Qualifications

We understand that each candidate has a unique background and experience. The following

qualifications are not required, but can strengthen the candidacy for applicants:

● Strong familiarity with back-end web development technologies (HTML, CSS, etc.).

● Experience developing Shopify themes, apps, and utilizing the Shopify CLI.

● Familiarity with using network and performance diagnostic tools.

● Practice following the agile/scrum development methodology.

● Experience with Search Engine Optimization and creating SEO-friendly web pages.

● Familiarity with web accessibility and experience creating accessible web content.

● Understanding of, and ability to calculate computational and spatial complexity of

algorithms (Big-O).

Compensation: 

The base salary range for this position is $95,500 - $130,000 per year/year depending on experience. The total compensation package may include performance bonuses, benefits, and/or other applicable compensation plans.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with a 40-hour work week and a flexible schedule.

● Our business hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm (Mountain Time) from Monday to Friday.

● We ask that applicants be available for a significant portion of our hours of operation.
