SummaryThe Massachusetts Impaired Driver (MID) Instructor facilitates psycho-educational groups with adults found guilty of a first offense DUI. The DAE Instructor help individuals identify and understand alcohol abuse issues and drinking-and-driving behaviors. Essential Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities
Conduct interviews, group psycho-educational sessions, and facilitate group discussions.
Familiarity with the problem of drinking and driving.
Provide group substance abuse education, and guidance in other areas of participant bio-psychosocial needs.
Communicate with District Court Probation Department, as necessary to report on progress and/or problems, etc.
Participate with other staff members in case reviews to ensure coordinated delivery of services.
Complete aftercare plans, discharge summaries, and discharge forms.
Participate in staff supervision and in-service training programs.
Document participants’ progress in the MID program.
Abide by the Professional Staff Code of Ethics.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, Experience, AND SKILLS REQUIREDThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a counseling related discipline, extensive experience in substance abuse may be substituted for the academic requirements.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of substance abuse experience.
Skills: Must have knowledge of self-help recovery programs.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Must be CPR certifiable.
