Gourmet Food Manufacturer is Hiring a First Shift Production Worker Near Norfolk, VA
Responsibilities
Maintain a clean and sterile environment for food preparation, processing, storage and packaging.
Operate the production and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Fast-paced assembly line work including assemble boxes, pack product into boxes, stack cases on pallets, operate food processing equipment, and more.
Monitor food cooking machines and adjust the controls for devices such as small caramalizer, large caramalizer, oil popper and air popper.
Operate scale equipment to measure ingredients according to company and recipe standards.
React to any type of alarms or malfunctions of the equipment and operate the shut-off switch when necessary.
Load raw ingredients into the air popper/oil popper/mixers and measure the amount needed by following company recipes and industry standards.
Comprehend written instructions and recipes from the company when putting together ingredients and starting a new batch of products.
Verify that each finished item meets the quality standards of the company by observing the size, shape and luster of each snack item.
Sanitize all materials and machinery parts at the end of each shift and clean the workspace at the worker station by following company cleanliness standards.
Qualifications
Must be able to read, write, and understand instructions, warnings, labels and postings in English effectively.
Ability to work in a standing position for 8-10 hours.
Ability to be physically present at assigned workstation for the majority of the shift (8-10 hours), with the exception of scheduled breaks.
Required to be exposed to physical environment most of the workday, which involves: food debris and odors, constant equipment noise, temperature extremes, wet areas/water.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis throughout shift (8-10 hours). Ability to set load on a pallet.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including repetitive finger/hand/wrist/arm movement, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, and lifting throughout shift (8-10 hours).
