JOB DEFINITION:

 A Mid-Level Maintenance Mechanic demonstrates general skills and abilities to perform assigned tasks with an average amount of supervision.

JOB RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to Maintenance Team Leader and/or other appropriate management personnel.

Job Qualifications:

• Education: High School or equivalent education (GED).
• Experience: Should have four (4) years in a maintenance or production environment. Must be approved by the Maintenance Manager.
• Skills: Should have the ability to accurately follow instructions as provided by supervision. Must be trained in at least one craft.
• Other: Must obtain a forklift license within 3 months of full time hire date. Must be able to routinely lift 50 lbs. Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours daily.

• Complexity of Duties: Position requires the ability to work safely with equipment, perform routine preventative maintenance and repair equipment breakdowns. Offers suggestions and ideas for improving plant safety and environment.
• Supervision Received: This position is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Team Leader and/or other appropriate management personnel.
• Supervision exercised: None. Must be able to provide practical training of less senior maintenance personnel.
• Impact on Operations: Successful operations and maintenance of the plant is dependent upon the diligence of the mechanic toward his/her work. Influences conforming to standards and specifications. Strives to prevent errors.
• Contact: Has direct contact and must deal with all plant personnel.
• Environment: This position works primarily in the shop and plant areas. Requires considerable physical, mental, and visual attention at all times. Special safety equipment is required for entry into hazardous areas of the plant.

• All duties as assigned by Maintenance Team Leader and/or other appropriate personnel.
• Become familiar with and comply with all company rules on safety and security.
• Ensures safe working conditions while performing assigned duties.
• Punctual and dependable.
• Learn and carry out good housekeeping practices.
• Strive to increase his/her knowledge of plants and equipment.
• Does good quality work in a timely manner.
• Stop and then report any unsafe acts or conditions to maintenance team leader, safety leader and/or other appropriate management personnel.
• Follow procedures dictated by product orientations for each product.
• Follow all standard maintenance procedures and recommend revisions or improvements.
• Participate in safety meetings.
• Train Preventative Maintenance mechanic personnel.
• Should be trained in at least one (1) preventive maintenance craft and have a working knowledge of one (1) craft.
• Must be trained and successfully complete testing including the following before promotion and every two (2) years thereafter:
• A. Industrial Hygiene
• B. Lock-Out/Tag-Out Procedures
• C. Personal Protective Equipment
• D. Hazardous Communication
• To be considered for a promotion he/she cannot be on probation for any reason.
• Must carry and respond to maintenance cell phone or call ins.
• Be willing and able to respond to team leader or company needs as they arise or change.
