We have a tenured staff of highly skilled manufacturing and technical professionals who manufacture capital equipment and OEM components for a variety of high-tech industries. We also provide engineering design assistance and verification, as well as drafting services and we are looking for skilled individuals to join our team! We are looking to fill several Swing and Weekend shifts. Lathe and Mill positions! The Job SummaryMachine parts tolerance based on blueprint requirements with a variety of metals and plastics using CNC machines.
While not inclusive, this position will provide support in the following areas of the Operations Department:
Programming: Obtain approval prior to changing, editing, or updating CNC programs, and maintain program log as required by management business systems. Sets up mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, selling tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches. Calculate requirements utilizing basic math, geometry and trigonometry when proving part programs. Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specification, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Machining: Obtain and execute directions from the department supervisor. Monitor and protect the assets of the company and ensure that appropriate tooling is used for each job. Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, vises, tools, various attachments, collects, bushings, cams, gears, stops and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads. Loads feed mechanisms by lifting stock into CNC Machine. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; notifying direct supervisor for machine repairs. Adhere to all quality policies and meet company quality goals of on-time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety or equipment life.
Verification of Product: Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part and sample work pieces; adhering to quality standards. Maintain quality standards by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Identifies errors and troubleshoots as possible. Escalates unresolved issues to supervisor.
Efficiency: Able to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort.
Attention To Detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task. Identifies and addresses discrepancies and inconsistencies in a process, product, or situation.
Flexibility/adaptability: Views change as necessary and positive; maintains effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusting effectively to work within new structures, processes, requirements; can effectively cope with change; remains objective and is seen as balanced despite challenges, obstacles.
Accountability/ Dependability: Focuses on desired outcomes and how best to achieve them. Gets the job done. Assumes responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; can be counted on to deliver consistent and high-quality results.
Problem Solving & Decision Making: Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions such as engaging co-workers in discussions before making decisions and/or acting on fact instead of emotion.
Safety: Follows safe work practices ensuring compliance with Viper safety policy and procedures. Assists others in working safely. Recognizes and reports real or possible safety hazards.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Actively participates as a member of the team to move the team toward the completion of goals; considers the perspectives of others in working towards common goals; develops positive and productive relationships within and across teams to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
Communication: Clearly and respectfully conveys information and ideas, orally and in writing, to individuals or groups in a manner that helps them understand and retain the message; demonstrates active listening and appropriate body language.
Education: Required: High School diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate degree, Machine Tool Technology, or related subject-area; or Trade School Certification in a related discipline or Apprenticeship. Preferred: Five (5) year experience as a Machinist in a precision machine shop. Basic computer skills with the ability to operate within a MS Windows environment, using email for communication. Usage of Data Collection software and ERP system is required.
Computer Skills: Minimum ability to operate within a Windows environment, using email for communication. Usage of Data Collection software.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, schematics, prints and travelers is required. Effective interpersonal communication skills through a variety of methods is required.
Mathematical Skills: Basic Math Skills: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Metric to Standard Conversion, Fractions to Decimals.
Reasoning Skills: Requires the ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form is an on-going requirement.
Physical Demands: This position requires standing for most of the day. Walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, handling, reaching, lifting, and pulling are necessary throughout the day as well.
Work Environment: The work environment for this position is that of an industrial machine shop/production facility. Employees may experience loud noises, (at varying levels), sharp edges (tooling and material), oil, and coolant throughout the workday.
