GPW Health Center is Hiring an Accounting Manager Near Woodbridge, VA

This is a role-your-sleeves-up, nuts & bolts, A-Z Finance position for a private non-profit community Health center. This position is part of a small team, dedicated to serving our patients and community. Position Description

The Accounting Manager is a member of the Senior Leadership Group and supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for all components of the financial and accounting functions of Center. Assist CFO with strategic, operational, and fiscal planning including oversight of annual budgets and resources.

This position requires compliance with the Center’s Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and applicable policies and procedures. Such compliance will be considered as part of a regular performance appraisal. Failure to comply with the Center’s standards, including the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.

Essential Functions

1. Oversees and supervises cash and related banking, receivables, fixed assets (capitalization criteria, depreciation, etc.), procurement of supplies and services, accounts payable and other liabilities, general accounting functions, and month end close process (bank reconciliations, proper revenue and expense recording, general ledger account reconciliation, month end journal entries, etc.).

2. Oversees and responsible for monthly financial reports and dashboards for the Board of Directors, apprising the CFO of any adverse trends in financial operations (e.g., forecasting, trend analysis).

Financial reports will be prepared in Sage50 and exported to Excel. Reports for the Board of Directors must be included in the Board Briefing Book by the 15thof each month.

3. Oversees and supervises Accounting Assistant position.

4. In coordination with Director of Human Resources, responsible for all aspects of payroll and benefits management.

5. Participate in the preparation of the annual financial budget and supports management of the Center to meet the objectives as identified within the budget.

6. Initial preparation and facilitates timely submission of all regulatory reports (i.e. HRSA, PMS Quarterly and Annual, 1099’s).

7. Facilitates timely and accurate completion of annual audit (financial, single and 401k audits) and 990 prepared by agency independent accountants including preparation and storage of appropriate data for auditing purposes.

8. Responsible for the inventory and capitalization of all improvements, furniture, equipment, computers, etc. per Federal HHS guidelines and accounting practices.

9. This position often involves other duties as assigned by CFO.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

1. Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, rooted in accounting theory.

2. Experience and understanding of computerized accounting systems, Excel spreadsheets, budgets, and financial data operations, electronic health records (i.e., eClinicalWorks), third party billing, contracting, collections, and cost-reporting (Medicaid & Medicare), and Microsoft Office and other current or comparable software systems.

3. Willing to be hands on (i.e., “roll up your sleeves and dig into the details”).

4. Entrepreneurial spirit to look for opportunities and create justification for launching effort.

5. Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

6. Minimum of 5 years of progressive management and accounting experience required.

7. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as auditor in public accounting firm preferred.

8. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a health care organization and knowledge of the principles and practice of health care organizations is preferred.

9. Ability to multi-task and complete assignments within stated timeframe.
