Digital Fraud Strategist / Risk Analyst

Job Function Description:

The Senior Risk Management Analyst ensures adherence to the company’s policies and procedures. The role involves managing policy definitions, monitoring policy implementation, and ensuring consistency of risk policies. The analyst monitors and manages risk exposure and compliance with company policies, identifies and reports on risk areas, and evaluates the effectiveness of data and document retention systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead fraud-related projects, ensuring business and technical requirements are documented, testing plans are developed and managed, and implementation is fully coordinated.
• Partner with the operational risk group to assess fraud controls and impacts related to new products, channels, and processes.
• Build data models to support business unit analytics and performance management.
• Recommend business unit performance enhancements and efficiencies based on analytical models.
• Develop and maintain a peer benchmarking model.
• Present complex and sensitive issues, as well as industry fraud trends, to senior management in a clear, concise format.
• Prepare and present anti-fraud training to business unit partners and peers.
• Assist business units in determining timeframes and resources for implementing control enhancements and guide them through full implementation.
• Escalate issues potentially affecting reputation risk to Management, Legal, and Corporate Communications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, including BSA, FCRA, Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, RESPA, GLB, and FACTA.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong data analytics experience with the ability to translate information into actionable insights.
• Proficient in handling large data sets and building reports.
• Extensive knowledge of MS Excel; experience with R, Python, SQL, or SAS is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in risk management or controls.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, tools, and governance, preferably in a financial services technology environment.
• Knowledge of workflow processes and risks/controls, including origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections/workout.
• Advanced skills in risk, process, and control validation/assessment.
• Ability to direct, train, and guide peers, subordinates, and management.
• Strong conflict resolution skills to ensure proper accounting guidance.
• Ability to adapt to new developments and changing circumstances.
• Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to drive issues/projects to closure.
• Effective interaction with market, executive management, and vendors.
