Global Software Engineer

Location: Colorado Springs

Salary: $140k

We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join our team working on the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. This vital system integrates the Missile Defense System, enabling strategic, regional, and operational management of ballistic missile defense operations. The role focuses on software development using Java to support this mission-critical system.

Essential Functions:

• Develop software using Java for the C2BMC program.
• Provide in-depth analysis and technical support for a large, distributed system.
• Resolve complex problems, design, develop, test, integrate, and support users.
• Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.
• Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems and improve efficiency.
• Design, code, test, and implement automation tools.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related experience, or
• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience, or
• 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Familiarity with Java Spring.
• Experience with software programming in Java.
• Ability and willingness to travel locally up to 10% to support business needs.
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Possessing a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security , GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA).
• Strong problem-solving skills, including identifying root causes and developing solutions.
• Experience in command and control system application development.
• Previous experience with message translation software.
• Automated test and pipeline development experience.
• Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
• Knowledge of software practices and coding standards.
• Experience working in an Agile team environment.
• Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
• Experience developing enterprise applications.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
• Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.
• Use of common software development and management tools such as Git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, or Gradle.
• Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams.
• Experience with software integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.
• Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation.
• Prior experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers.
