Grady Health System is Hiring a Safety Specialist Near Atlanta, GA

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Senior Safety Manager, assists in implementation of the day-to-day operations of the Grady Health System General Safety and Fire Safety programs. This position involves the interpretation and application of applicable codes, regulations, and standards. Must be able to interpret regulations, define and evaluate problems, collect data, draw conclusions, write reports, and implement corrective action plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene or Science. In lieu of a degree a minimum of three years relevant experience.
  • Required: A minimum of 2-3 years of hospital or general industry safety or risk management experience is required.
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional or OSHA 30-Hour Training required or achieved within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous experience in compliance inspections or healthcare accreditation.
  • Previous experience coordinating worker’s compensation field investigations and promptly responding to requests and inquiries.
  • Must possess superior organizational, interpersonal and time management skills, be self-motivated and have strong verbal and written communication skills (required).
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations and model safety program strategies/survey processes (required).
  • Knowledge and experience with use of computer and related software programs, as well as demonstrated experience with data collection, data analysis and reporting (required).
  • Experience in managing and enhancing database platforms (preferred).
