Overview

At Graham Packaging we value our people, and are seeking the help of a motivated team member to fill the role of Quaility Engineer. The Quality Engineer will support Graham’s drive for excellence by working with the quality assurance and quality control teams. Their primary responsibilities are to develop processes, test procedures, and implement systems that ensure the products and processes fulfill quality standards and satisfy customer expectations. Improving the customer experience by utilizing data to drive to root cause and implementing robust and sustainable improvements that drive improvements in quality, cost and customer service.

Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Quality Engineer include:

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly issues using – Failure, Mode, Effect, Analysis (FMEA)
  • Lead FMEA, DOE and control plans to prevent product defects
  • Act as an advisor in all phases of statistical quality control
  • Generate and deploy quality trend charts, histograms and other tools, to act as indicators of quality of the items produced and health of a process
  • Lead teams and perform investigations to determine root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive action for nonconformance, participate as the Quality subject matter expert (SME) on program and design teams
  • Assist in Quality-related training of employees
  • Warranty / IQS investigation, ability to provide actionable feedback to applicable departments and countermeasure for manufacturing caused issues
  • Support complex analysis of key quality issues
  • Confirm containment and implementation of procedures on key quality issues

Qualifications

Quality Engineers are required to interact with other managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:

  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to maintain high standards and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability it work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
  • Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is a requirement for this position, preferably in engineering or related field.
  • Must possess 2 years of Quality Engineering experience or a combination of 5 years of Quality Engineer, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineer experience
  • 3 years’ experience in a quality role within a manufacturing sector is preferred
  • Ability to deliver, meet deadlines & have results orientation
  • Experience in statistical inference and process capability studies (SPC)

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
