Grand Canyon University is Hiring a Student Worker - Career Services - Career Ambassador (FWS/NFWS) Near Phoenix, AZ

Position Summary/Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to support the growth, efforts, and goals of the Career Services department.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
  • Support industry-related events/activities, manage industry contacts, and help with employer engagement including career fairs, industry-led professional development opportunities, Companies on Campus, advisory boards, capstone showcases, company tours, and other department events. Activities include: (1) Help with the 'day of' event logistics including set up, tear down and operation, (2) Track student and employer attendance at internal and external events, and (3) Identify, plan, and implement ways to increase awareness of departmental resources and opportunities to students.
  • Assist with the successful overall operation of the Career Services Department through managing assigned clerical duties, which include (1) managing multiple department inboxes, (2) answering office phone lines, (3) supporting occasional office guests, input data into various university systems in a timely manner (while maintaining a high degree of accuracy), track and document completed work in Outlook/Trello/OneNote, engage with employers to help them connect with Career Services' offerings, assist with compiling letter of recommendation for faculty review, and efficiently collaborate in a professional manner with other university departments/leadership in the execution of day-to-day tasks.
  • Successfully utilize the manager feature of Career Connections to (1) track and maintain documentation of where students have obtained internships, career opportunities, graduate school matriculation, and more in the Career Connections platform, (2) Orient employers to the digital job board and other system features, (3) Create, analyze and disseminate system reports on employer and student engagement, and (4) Create announcements for students.
  • Provide documented feedback for continual improvement on department processes.

Qualifications:
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office suite and ability to quickly grasp and utilize new concepts and technologies.
  • Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail. Along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - written, in person and via phone; maintaining a professional, composed manner when interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Possess a strong ability to handle the stress of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing time to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license in order to operate department carts on campus.
Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor's program or master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
