Grand Ledge Public Schools is Hiring a 6th-12th Grade Student Mentor Teacher (Part-Time) Near Grand Ledge, MI

Position: 6th-12th Student Mentor Teacher (Part-Time @ Eaton County Youth Facility)Summary: The Resource Room Teacher creates and sustains a community of learners through the development of a positive classroom and school culture, by holding rigorous and high expectations for students and by utilizing instructional practices matched to student learning needs. This position is not apart of the Teacher Master Agreement.

  • Assist Special Education Case Manager with onsite caseload support.
  • Provide supervision for on site students using virtual platforms.
  • Academic support for all students as needed.
  • Communicates regularly with students, parents, families and administration in advocacy of student growth. Develops communication plans that adjust for varying levels of parent involvement.
  • Adheres to district and school rules and procedures.
  • Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
  • Maintains regular predictable in-person attendance.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s or higher degree.
  • Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate for grades 6th – 12th
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 35 pounds such as books and teaching material.
