Responsibilities

Under the general direction and guidelines of Department of Emergency Medicine, along with standards established through the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania, the Registered Nurse, RN, Emergency Room is accountable for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating care for neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Essential Functions of the Registered Nurse, RN, Emergency Room:

• Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
• Determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
• Implementing clinical nursing interventions
• Having a highly diverse skill set
• Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
• Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment.
• Evaluates, updates, and revises the plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Provides care to a broad spectrum of patients ranging from short stay to trauma.
• Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice.

 Schedule: 48 hours every 6-week schedule, 24 hours being weekend shifts. 16 hours of holiday time per year

Qualifications

Education and Experience:Vocational diploma Nursing Diploma, required.Over 6 months to 1 year as an acute care Registered Nurse, preferred.Licenses and Certifications:Registered Nurse in PA – Licensed, upon hire, required.

Basic Life Support (BLS), upon hire, required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), within 1 year of hire, required.

Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), upon hire, preferred.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), upon hire, preferred.
