Grandview Heights Schools is Hiring a Health Clinic Aide/Paraprofessional Near Columbus, OH
We are seeking a Health Clinic Aide/Paraprofessional to work at District (but he/she could be asked to work out of any of the three clinics to support the nurse and/or the needs of the students). Medical background highly preferred! Title: Paraprofessional- Health Clinic Aide Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Student Services Terms: 185 days General SummaryThe position involves supporting the school nurse and assisting students who may be sick, injured, or have a chronic health condition(s). The Health Clinic Aide will need to be knowledgeable about health safety plans for individual students and able to implement them, following any/all medical and safety protocols that have been established by the district and the building(s). The Health Clinic Aide will help address medical and/or safety questions that may arise when the nurse is not present, determining when the nurse or administrator needs to be contacted. Duties may include assignments outside of the health clinic (i.e. study hall coverage) Qualifications
High school diploma required, Associate’s degree preferred- medical background preferred
Paraprofessional certificate, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months
Pass all FBI & BCI/BCII checks
Knowledge of and appropriate use of standard English and grammar
Strong organizational and communication skills
Effective knowledge and use of technology relevant to the position
Student-centered focus
Ability to serve as a positive role model for students and staff
Ability to meet physical requirements of the position on a daily basis:
Climb steps
Lift up to 25 pounds
Transport children using various equipment
Perform minor health related tasks (diapering, feeding tube, seizure plans, etc.)
Essential Job Functions
Knowledge of maintaining essential medications and procedures for district student medical conditions
Daily documentation of specific medical conditions and needs of current students, including but not limited
to diabetes, G-tubes, tracheotomy
Assist in clinic area throughout the school day or as assigned
CPR and First Aid certified
Patient care training
Daily communication with principal, staff, and parents as needed
Communication And Collaboration
Consult and/or meet with teachers and other staff utilizing appropriate channels by engaging in positive
solution-finding steps to resolve areas of concern and to request direction, instruction, or guidance for new or unfamiliar tasks
Provide and communicate information regarding students in a timely manner
Refer questions from families to appropriate personnel
Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, and families
Model appropriate hygiene, appearance, interaction, and actions
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and school information
