Job summary:
The teacher is expected to instruct and educate students according to the individual needs, abilities, and potential of each student entrusted in his/her care by the Head of School and the Principal. Instruction should be based on state standards, reflect academic excellence, and be Biblically integrated.

Reports to: Principal
Evaluated: An annual written evaluation is provided by the Principal with observations performed at least twice a year. On-going informal observations will be performed to collect evidence of professional growth throughout the school year. More frequent evaluations will be performed as needed in regards to areas needing improvement.
Type of position: This is an exempt teacher position that is paid on a salaried basis commensurate with experience. This position is not contracted, and employee or employer may terminate the relationship at any time. Pay will be pro-rated based on the actual number of days worked.
Work schedule: Teachers are expected to be present during the academic calendar year on student days, teacher work days, and in-service days from 7:35 AM to 3:35 PM. There may be times when teachers work outside of the school hours to conference with parents, plan lessons, grade papers, etc. Holidays, summers, personal and bereavement days will follow the policies in the current year Faculty & Staff Handbook. Teachers shall be required to attend faculty and professional development meetings after school unless otherwise excused by the Principal.
Required Professional Qualities:
a) Teachers shall hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University. b) Teachers shall hold a non-tax or professional teaching certificate from the State of Ohio and meet the requirements of school, district, state, and other agencies (ACSI).
c) Exception shall be made only for non-core specialty subjects in which the teacher has at least five years of real-life experience in the subject matter which shall be evaluated by the Principal.
d) Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, have a basic proficiency in word processing, creating, and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, accessing the Internet, and proficiency or willingness to learn the RenWeb and curriculum tracking systems.
e) Teachers shall abide by the GCA Confidentiality Statement, Conflict of Interest Statement, Lifestyle Statement, and Foundational Documents.
f) Teachers shall abide by the Faculty/Staff Handbook and shall enforce the Student Handbook to the best of his/her ability. Teachers are encouraged to make suggestions of handbook changes that reflect best practices.

c) Ability to organize his/her work for maximum results.
d) Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak and write clearly to students, other teachers, parents, and staff.
e) Differentiate instruction to meet individual learning styles.
f) Demonstrate sensitivity toward staff, parent, volunteers, and children, and an ability to interact effectively with them.
g) Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
h) Understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality as it pertains to the individual classroom and school as a whole.
i) Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, and staff.
