We are looking for a Wood Sander/ Shop Apprentice to join our team and contribute to the creation of our premium products.
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for sanding surfaces to achieve a smooth, even finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sanding and Surface Preparation
- Sand wooden surfaces to achieve a smooth, even finish.
- Prepare surfaces for finishing by removing imperfections and ensuring proper adhesion of coatings.
- Operate and maintain sanding equipment and tools.
- Basic Woodworking
- Perform basic woodworking tasks such as cutting, shaping, and assembling wooden components.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Quality Control
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards and customer requirements.
- Identify and address any issues or defects in finished products.
- Maintenance and Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications:
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in woodworking or finishing is a plus.
- Experience
- Familiarity and experience with sanding techniques and finishing products.
- Skills
- Proficient in using sanding equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to perform basic woodworking tasks with precision.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require standing for extended periods and working with various finishing products and tools.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required.
