Role purpose:

Reporting to a HR Consultant the HR Assistant will provide efficient, timely and accurate service to clients, using effective communication and building good relationships. The HR Assistant will support the HR Consultants team in providing business focussed advice to clients, working within appropriate legislative and regulatory guidelines and HR best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with HR projects and initiatives as required.
  • Producing employee documentation (offer letters, contracts or employment, policies, procedures, handbooks, communications, etc).
  • Recruitment (drafting job descriptions, posting job adverts, managing job applications and response handling, holding screening interviews and arranging interviews).
  • Assisting clients with onboarding of new starters and inductions.
  • Note taking at HR meetings and producing minutes.
  • Drafting, amending and updating HR policies according to legislation and best practice.
  • Carrying out exit interviews.
  • Calculating basic staff entitlements, like annual leave.
  • Updating and maintaining accurate staff records using the client’s HR system.
  • Providing HR advice to clients remotely or on-site.
  • Carrying out surveys and producing data-based reports and presentations on HR metrics.
  • Providing support to the HR Consultants on employee relations issues.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Continuously update HR knowledge through online research and attending online and in person events.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • A degree in HR or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • CIPD Level 3 or 5, or willingness to work towards it
  • Prior experience in an HR role
