Job Summary/Description:

We are looking for someone to lead the best sports coverage in the state of Mississippi. WLBT in Jackson, MS is located at the crossroads of the Deep South. Our coverage spans from high schools to the Saints with the SEC and the SWAC in between. We are looking for a Sports Director to lead and guide our coverage on the most dominant digital platforms in the state and from a brand-new, sharp-looking news set. This person will above all understand that sports stories are people stories.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Anchor sports segments in evening newscasts
• Plan and lead our sports coverage
• Responsible for sports editorial content across all platforms
• Mentor upcoming Sports MMJs

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 2 years experience as Sports Director or Sports MMJ in a television newsroom
• Exceptional on-camera presence and delivery
• Talented writer
• Proven leader and teacher
