The Principal Software Engineer, supporting the Joint Common Access Platform (JCAP) Program's Project Manager for Electronic Warfare & Cyber, collaborates with system users, requirements owners, and developmental contractors. Their role involves translating operational requirements into software requirements, designs, and implementations. They actively participate in planning, coordinating, scheduling, directing, and controlling engineering and technical support activities related to software development. This includes integrating software tools/capabilities onto various execution platforms.

Additionally, the Principal Software Engineer plays a key role in the development and execution of software and system test strategies. They review and assess developmental contractor software code to ensure compliance with government-provided coding and cybersecurity standards. Furthermore, they contribute to government oversight of contractor software development activities, participating as a supporting team member in agile development paradigm activities (e.g., scrums, sprint retrospectives). This involvement extends to tasks such as developing software acceptance criteria and providing recommendations to the government Assistant Product Manager on various aspects of development, planning, automation tools, requirements prioritization, testing, evaluation, cross-system integration, and the fielding/delivery, as well as post-delivery support of software-based systems. The Principal Software Engineer also offers integrated, multi-disciplinary solution recommendations for resolving technical problems.

Who Will Be a Great Fit?

• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• 10 years of direct experience with software development
• 3 years of experience managing software development teams
• 3 years in cyber or C4ISR systems
• BS and/or graduate degree(s) in Engineering or Information Technology
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework)
• Experience leading a "large team" (e.g. oversaw at least two agile teams)
• Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Git)
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery
• Experience with Unix-based (e.g. RedHat, Ubuntu, etc.) and Windows Operating Systems
• Familiarity with Application Programming Interfaces
• Experience with Ansible Playbooks
• Experience with Python and/or Java development
• Familiarity with DoD 5000 acquisition lifecycle processes
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to generate and deliver focused briefings on
• complex topics to senior leaders
• Ability to work on and/or lead multi-functional/multi-disciplinary teams.
