Great Lakes Dredge Dock is Hiring a HR Business Partner, Employee Relations & Engagement Near Houston, TX

The Opportunity: The HR Business Partner, Employee Relations & Engagement provides a variety of support with human resource processes within Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. This role provides support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, employee incident engagement, and special projects to support the HR Operations. The position is located in our Houston, TX corporate headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolving employee concerns and complaints regarding work-related issues
  • Performs workplace investigations and providing counseling and advice to employees regarding their employment issues.
  • Identifying legal risks and ensuring compliance with HR laws and regulations relating to employee relations.
  • Providing advice and guidance to management on employee relations policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with HR team to administer and support onboarding process by providing orientation of the company’s policies and procedures
  • Manages the employment verification third party vendor
  • Responds to unemployment claims
  • Conducts employee exit interviews and identifies areas of concern to improve the working environment
  • Compiles and analyzes employee headcount and demographics for reporting
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed
  • Assists in Labor Relation disputes and grievances and ensures compliance with the collective bargaining agreements
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Provide HR Support to our project sites and vessels
  • Assists with various HR projects
  • Other duties as assigned
