Great Lakes Institute of Technology is Hiring a Program Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program Near Erie, PA

We are seeking a passionate professional excited to give back to his/her career field. We are seeking those with a calling to make a difference in the lives of students as the Program Director for our highly successful Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program. This is a great opportunity to not only manage an educational program but to apply your instructional expertise in teaching the next generation in the highly technical skills required in this field.

Full-time Position: Competitive salary based on experience.

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for the structure as well as the daily operations of the DMS program including but not limited to the organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development and general effectiveness of program curricula as well as ensuring that regular visits to all clinical affiliates is maintained.
  • May be required to teach up to a full-time teaching load based upon business needs and/or student enrollments in the program.
  • Ensures all the components of the program are set up to ensure achievement of the DMS program goals and outcomes according to accreditation requirements including but not limited to the student resources, syllabus, assignments, quizzes/exams, faculty observations, student surveys, laboratory facilities, clinical affiliates, and equipment and supplies.
  • Confer with advisory board (twice per year) and on a regular basis with administrative staff to plan and develop curriculum designed to meet the needs of the students, employers, clinical affiliates and accrediting agencies. Attend and actively participate in PD meetings, quarterly faculty in-service meetings and Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings.
  • Directs program activities and externships/clinical rotations (where applicable) including the developing/maintaining sites, training sites supervisors, organizing schedules, visiting sites and monitoring student success to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, accrediting bodies, and school policies and procedures.
  • Faculty oversight by providing direction, motivation, informational support, technical/professional guidance, and training to department personnel. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate program faculty to improve retention, morale and performance efficiencies.
  • Ensure students are provided support services to maintain the highest level of student achievement while safeguarding the integrity of the educational process. Oversee processes in place to track, monitor and record student outcomes including graduation rates, credentialing rates, and placement rates and provides required reports as needed. Ensure students are prepared to take the national registry exam
  • Adheres to school policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy and/or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
  • Posts regular offices hours and maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and as required to meet the needs of the students and the school.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, graduated from a CAAHEP accredited program with a minimum of (3) years of experience as a full-time sonographer OR have eight (8) years of directly related work experience.
  • Must be credentialed by the ARDMS, AB, OB/GYN, and Adult Echocardiography.
  • Ability to instruct students in AB, OB/GYN, and general concentrations
  • Coursework in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment
  • Appropriate ultrasound credential(s) specific to general concentration
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all learning competencies identified in the Abdominal, OB/GYN, and Adult Echocardiography concentrations as defined by JRC DMS.
  • Knowledge of all regulatory standards relevant to DMS education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship management with students, staff, and community partners with demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of program development principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines in the field.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products with the ability to learn additional software as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum requirements, one (1) or more years of teaching experience in the subject area.
