    Position Summary: The primary purpose of this position is the instruction and supervision of assigned students keeping within the law, board policies, and administrative regulations. A primary focus is to screen, evaluate, and identify eligible students for speech and language services; design and implement appropriate intervention strategies; collect student performance data and establish and maintain a daily schedule. This is demonstrated by actively engaging in the improvement of instructional practices through coaching, evaluation and staff development.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Current Oregon Licensure through Teachers Standards and Practices Commission and/or Oregon State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology,
    • Appropriate endorsement and/or authorization for district assignment
    • Criminal history verification/clearance
      COVID-19 Vaccine or district-approved medical or religious exemption
    Essential Functions:
    • Interacts with students in a manner that develops self-confidence among students and respects individual cultural differences.
    • Screens, evaluates, and identifies eligible students for speech and language services.
    • Designs and implements appropriate intervention strategies, including a broad array of service delivery models including application of technology.
    • Provides information relative to communication disorders to students, parents, teachers and others as appropriate.
    • Collaborates with teachers and parents regarding program content and intervention services.
    • Collects student performance data and establishes and maintains a daily schedule.
    • Monitors the effectiveness of the intervention.
    • Implements requirements of Federal and State regulations.
    • Maintains records and reports required by District, State and Federal agencies.
    • Cooperates with various agencies in referring and providing appropriate reciprocal services.
    • Analyzes and forecasts needs for services.
    • Participates as an effective team member of the school site and Special Programs Department.
    • Trains, schedules, and directs assigned assistants to maximize delivery of services.
    • Perform other related duties as may be required or requested by the supervisor or Director of Special Programs.

    • Collaborates with colleagues to identify and provide for the needs of students.
    • Demonstrates professional behavior while on duty.
    • Provides frequent and meaningful information to students and families about student progress.
    • Develops constructive relationships with members of the school community.
    • Resolves conflict in a professional manner within the school community and cooperates with colleagues and administrators.
    • Follows the ethics of the education professional.

    Student Management

    • Consistently follows school regulations regarding attendance reporting, grading, and record keeping.
    • Reinforces desired student behaviors and responds as necessary to disruptive student behaviors.
    • Follows procedures defined in district-building discipline policy.
    Workplace Expectations:
    • The employee will maintain regular attendance in accordance with applicable rules and will arrive for work fit for duty.
    • The employee is dressed and groomed in a clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
    • The employee will manage the use of district property, equipment and materials effectively and economically.
    • The employee will meet the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission Standards for Competent and Ethical Educators

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works indoors or in offices or school buildings. The employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions.     Term of Employment: Not to exceed 191 paid days or as set by negotiated agreement. May include extended contract days or extra-duty assignments. Salary and benefits based on the current District Salary Schedule and negotiated agreement.
