Greater Austin YMCA is Hiring a Water Exercise Instructor (Hays) Near Buda, TX

How You Will Power Our Purpose (Job Summary)At our YMCA, we believe in fostering not just fitness but also a sense of community and belonging. As a Water Exercise Instructor, your role is pivotal in enhancing both the health and well-being of our community members while nurturing a strong sense of togetherness. Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director, you will lead Aqua Cardio classes, providing expert guidance, clear instruction, and enthusiastic motivation. Through your efforts, you'll create a safe, inclusive, and engaging fitness environment where individuals can pursue their wellness goals while building connections within our vibrant community.
We are currently looking for a Water Exercise Instructor to conduct classes on Mondays from 12:05 pm to 12:50 pm and Wednesdays from 12:05 pm to 12:50 pm.
How You Will Make An Impact (Essential Functions)
  • Ensure a safe and enjoyable aquatic fitness experience for YMCA members by leading water cardio classes, emphasizing correct exercise techniques to prevent injuries.
  • Provide direct guidance, motivation, and engagement to class participants, fostering an inspiring workout environment.
  • Create dynamic class routines featuring a diverse range of exercises, including Tabata, cardio intervals, strength training, and flexibility activities, ensuring classes remain both stimulating and challenging.
  • Actively participate in the water alongside students, demonstrating proper form and execution of exercises.
  • Prioritize the well-being of all individuals in the pool area, maintaining a vigilant eye on safety.
  • Keep the area clean, promptly storing equipment and notifying supervisors of any maintenance needs.
  • Promote the YMCA's character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.
  • Lead by example the Y’s mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests. 
  • Become an Ambassador of the Y’s work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What You Bring To The Community Enterprise
  • Nationally accredited Primary Group Exercise certification and/or Specific
  • Group Exercise Water Certification
  • CPR and First Aid (can provide certification upon hire)
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.

Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk and occasionally lift and/or move items including equipment and children. Must be able to remain alert, sit or stand for extended periods of time, hear noises and distinguish distress signals, scan all areas of the pool with clear vision, perform all physical tasks related to instructing and observing participants in proper stroke techniques, communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
