Job Title: Paraprofessional II (RTI)
Reports to: Building Principal
Supervised by: Classroom Teacher, Title I Coordinator
Location: Miami Whitewater Elementary

We are seeking a Paraprofessional II (RTI) for the 2024 - 2025 school year and beyond to join our team at Miami Whitewater Elementary.
Job Summary: The paraprofessional II (RTI) is responsible for providing one-to-one and/or small group intervention in the areas of reading and math as directed by the classroom teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the teacher and/or data teams in implementing the instructional program (reading/math).
  • Follow directions of the teacher to provide a positive program for students.
  • Receive instructional materials and equipment and distribute according to the teacher's directions.
  • Locate, gather and prepare instructional materials as needed.
  • Supervise small groups, including introduction of new material, when teacher is conducting one-on-one testing or activity or during group activity.
  • Ability to supplement material on the spur-of-the-moment to provide interventions.
  • Ability to track interventions and share data with teacher and/or data teams.
  • Become familiar with and be able to assist students with computer and computer programs.
  • Assists in accomplishing school goals.
  • Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions (scheduling, copying...)for the purpose of supporting the teacher in maintaining student files and providing classroom interventions.
  • Responds to emergency situations (injured student, fights...) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Attends related workshops and in-service training sessions.
  • Meets any additional requirements that may be required to meet paraprofessional licensing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by teacher and/or administrator.

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma required.
  • Valid certificate / license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
  • One or more of the following required to meet ODE HQT: passage of the Praxis ParaPro Exam, 60 credit hours of higher education or associates degree or higher.
Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student, staff, or sensitive information is non negotiable.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and the community.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and BOE policies.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. verbal (including listening) and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to provide demonstrated leadership in the execution of communication strategies. Must be able to work independently.
  • Pushing the agenda and goals of the school district is imperative.
  • Political acumen and organizational support is strong focus as well.
