Temporary PositionThe MassCEC Energy Workforce Assessment identified a lack of awareness of clean energy careers as a major impediment to diversifying the clean energy workforce. To build awareness of these opportunities, GLTS will develop and implement two clean energy education programs that will benefit primarily GLTS day, After Dark, and adult technical training programs. GLTS is seeking a curriculum developer to create the first education program. This position will develop a unit of study (7-8 workshops) that will cover the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, programs to lower emissions, electrification and energy efficiency technologies, barriers and methods to remove them, and clean energy careers. This unit will be delivered to GTLS day and After Dark students (potentially 12 graders), to GLTS adult technical training students, and will be available for use by partner organizations to educate their constituents/students/trainees, The unit will culminate in a certificate of completion. Below is a preliminary outline of the unit.Our Clean Energy Future: What you need to know to pursue a Clean Energy CareerWokshop; Topics:*Why should I care? Background on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.*Really? Policy and regulations drive jobs! MassSave and other incentives to go green.*Technical Areas creating our clean energy future: Electrification and energy efficiency.*Fixing the Obstacles in the way of our clean energy Future: Barriers and barrier removal.*Clean Energy Careers in your technical area: Focus depending on the audience. The most common focus areas will be HVAC, Electrical, Automotive, Carpentry, Plumbing, Environmental Science, Horticulture and Landscaping, and Business Tech careers. *Your next steps: Clean energy employers in the student's field of study in Northeastern MA.*Field Trip to clean energy company, job site, or demonstration.The curriculum developer will create the first 4 workshops that will be common to all technical areas. The last 3-4 workshops and the field trip will be developed in consultation with a teacher from each CTE area so that it's relevant to the CTE area.
