Overview:To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their individual potential for personal and professional success.The following list is representative of the tasks associated with this position and is not all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.1.Participate in the development of individualized curriculum2.Implement individualization techniques3.Develop and implement individualized testing and student assessment4.Maintain a classroom/shop which is conducive to learning5.Manage an effective learning environment6.Maintain an accurate and up-to-date instructional binder including all policies, procedures and other related information7.Maintain and update Scope and Sequence as instructional materials are added or deleted in alignment with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks8.Maintain daily and/or weekly grades on all students9.Maintain daily attendance for each class assigned10.Assist in monitoring students between classes11Maintain equipment, tools, furniture, etc. in all instructional areas and report any losses or damage immediately12.Remain current with changes in industry, technology and education13.Attend conferences, seminars, workshops related to field(s) of instruction14.Write new curriculum or modify existing curriculum as program changes in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks15.Maintain up-to-date competency reporting system16.Ensure all grade sheets, verification sheets, etc. are completed as directed and turned in on time17.Maintain up-to-date Curriculum Binder(s) containing all instructional materials, ie. Worksheets, charts, graphs, quizzes, tests, LAPs, CAPs, Learing Guides pertaining to all courses to which he/she is assigned to teach18.Maintain a secure learning environment guaranteeing that teaching areas are locked when the area is not being used19.Utilize library media center for research and related projects20.Supervise students and assume responsibility for all students during time assigned. Qualifications:Possession of MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Educator's license in Social Studies at the secondary level or be eligible for licensure by MA DESE in the appropriate field of instruction.
