Job Description
Position Summary:

The Chester Community Coalition seeks a team member that can create as well as maintain positive and consistent contact with youth and adults in Chester PA who have experienced intentional violence. The position requires an someone comfortable communicating with a wide variety of community stakeholders, such as youth, parents, community partners, local and state government and media. Job duties also include providing light case management and administrative duties.

A compassionate, mature and responsible attitude is a must. The workload is often heavy as clients may be in distress. Time-management skills enable workers to deal with multiple clients while providing quality, trauma-informed services. Adaptability is crucial to success in this position as the work varies from day-to-day.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience working with a variety of populations.
  • Must have physical ability to actively complete all job duties
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Must be familiar with the City of Chester and Delaware County
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth, parents and other survivors of violence or homicide
  • Build trust and rapport with individuals experiencing traumatic grief or the impact of surviving assault
  • Perform daily follow-ups and wellness checks on existing clients and on all new referrals
  • Assist and support clients in maintaining cooperative and effective relationships with case managers and other service provers.
  • Provide community referrals for health, housing and employment services—or facilitate access to community resources as necessary.
  • Work evening or weekend hours as required
  • Participate in training and supervision
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, conferences, program evaluation and program development.
  • Keep highly organized files for each client and enter appropriate data
  • Comfortable presenting to various audiences about our agency and services
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of challenges which may affect our population
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and boundaries related to clients and other agencies
  • Availability to have a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
