Contract Length/ Days: (2024-2025/ 186 Days, plus 6 extended days)

Salary: Salary placement on our Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employees' education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. Salary Information

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited university or college in Information Technology and 2000 clock hours of verified occupational experience in the specific trade to be taught; OR
  • 4000 hours of verified occupational experience in the specific trade to be taught; AND
  • Colorado Department of Education secondary or career and technical education teaching endorsement in the area of instruction.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology. Master's preferred.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective: The IT-Cybersecurity Instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction of the curriculum in the Cybersecurity Pathway at the D6 Career and Technical Education Center. The Cybersecurity Instructor will be involved in establishing the curriculum for the program. The IT-Cybersecurity Instructor will perform a variety of routine duties, as needed, to teach the Cybersecurity content to students from different backgrounds, ethnicity, nationalities, gender, ages, religions, or disabilities in the IT classroom/lab, using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures, demonstrations, and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement student learning. Additionally, the IT-Cybersecurity Instructor will work closely with the Director of Career and Technical Education to ensure compliance of high quality programming including the development of a program advisory committee, Career and Technical Student Organization, work-based learning opportunities, industry certifications, and Program of Approval.

Essential Functions:
  1. Prepares performance-based objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirement of the school, State and Federal initiatives; meets State and local performance measures.
  2. Develops annual goals for program improvement; revise and update program curriculum using performance based open entry/open exit individualized curriculum materials, as needed.
  3. Organizes program of practical and technical instruction, including demonstrations of skills required in IT professions
  4. Working knowledge of instructional theory, basic education principles, practices and methodologies, the developmental process, competency-based curricula, and general classroom and lab practices.
  5. Possesses good organizational skills; knowledge of record keeping procedures, including the ability to collect and organize data and information.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate level of authority as well as creating an atmosphere of support and confidence for students.
  7. Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, parents and students and the general public
  9. Ability to work with youth (16-18 years old) effectively.
  10. Ability to work independently and to manage work assignments in a highly interpersonal contact environment.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
