The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a 501(c)3 entity with the mission of breaking the link between unhealthy housing and unhealthy families. GHHI supports housing, environmental health, and energy efficiency services for families in communities around the country, as well as conducting direct services in Maryland. GHHI's delivery model is based on its data-driven philosophy that public and private social investments are optimized and social program outcomes are maximized when the energy, health and safety needs of an occupied home are addressed comprehensively, efficiently, and simultaneously.

Position Overview
As a Federal Grant Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing financial activities related to federal grants and contracts within our organization. This position requires a strong understanding of government regulations, grant accounting principles, and compliance standards. other tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial aspects of federal grants from inception to closeout.
• Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding guidelines.
• Prepare and submit financial reports and invoices to federal agencies in a timely manner.
• Reconcile grant related transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Stay updated on federal regulations and guidelines governing grant management (e.g., Uniform Guidance).
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations, agency guidelines, and accounting standards.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard federal grant funds and ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of grant budgets.
• Provide financial analysis and forecasting related to grant activities.
• Identify budget variances and recommend corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare financial statements and reports for federal grant programs.
• Assist with external audits; create related audit workpapers and respond to audit inquiries.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of grant related transactions.
• Serve as a liaison between program managers and funding agencies on financial matters.
• Coordinate grant closeout procedures, including final financial reporting and reconciliation.
• Stay updated on changes in federal grant regulations and accounting standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, VLOOKUPs.
• Sound knowledge of accounting software; preferably Intuit QBO and Sage Intacct.
• Effective problem solving, critical thinking and systems evaluation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting preferred; CPA a plus.
• 3 years of experience in reconciling general ledger account balances and preparing financial statements in a non-profit setting; nonprofit experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with grants management, reporting and audit requirements is a plus.
