SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Property Accountant to join our client's team. As a Staff Property Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our property portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and optimizing financial performance. You will work closely with property management teams, finance departments, and external stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and support strategic decision-making.

- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for multiple properties.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Generate timely and accurate financial reports for management review and decision-making.
- Assist in the development of property budgets and forecasts in collaboration with property management teams.
- Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.
- Identify areas for cost savings and revenue enhancement to improve property financial performance.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including vendor invoice processing, expense coding, and payment processing.
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including tenant billing, rent collection, and reconciliation of tenant accounts.
- Coordinate with property management teams to resolve any billing or payment discrepancies.
- Review lease agreements and ensure accurate lease abstraction for accounting purposes.
- Maintain lease databases and update lease-related financial information as needed.
- Calculate and record lease-related expenses, including rent escalations and tenant incentives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
