JOB
The advanced level class works under general supervision and requires thorough knowledge of market research methods as well as County resources; promotional development and distribution tools; marketing and public relations; public relation activities and principals; a wide variety of tasks that include writing for print and social media, developing newsletters and creating presentations for public speaking events.Normal Working Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm; some weekend and evening work as needed.Posted until filled.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for advanced communication, both written and oral and specialized knowledge related to public leisure services for the coordination of graphic design, public relations, advertising and marketing of Greene County Animal Control services, programs and events, accomplished through media releases & advisories, public service announcements, feature articles, social media outlets, websites/pages, public speaking engagements, TV/radio appearances, trade shows, posters, brochures, direct mail campaigns, photos, podcasts, e-mail blasts, e-newsletters, advertisements, mobile signs, etc. Serves as a liaison with the media; may make TV/Radio appearances and/or coordinate appearances by other GCAC staff, volunteers and animals. Coordinates, trains and works with shelter attendants, front office personnel and volunteers to maintain animal records to promote pets on social media, rescue websites and to market shelter animals and services. Responsible for working with and handling animals for social media appearances; this includes but not limited to pictures, videos, live-streaming, and foster events.Schedules and supervises the activities of volunteers, fosters and rescue partner programs. Responsible for adoption events, the animal welfare adoption program and outreach/community programs. Develops and works to enhance these programs and to expand their value and utilization. Ensures appropriate documentation, training and supervision of the non-employee assistance, that is in accordance with the department mission and minimizes risk to the animals, personnel, and the county. Meets with potential adopters and rescue partners for placement of shelter pets. Works with Director on grant proposals, utilizations, and sponsors/donors as needed; solicits and obtains sponsors and donations for programs and events.Assists the administrative or Field Operations staff with duties, such as sales, owner release or redemption, adoptions, phone or dispatch duties, or any departmental tasks assigned by the Director.Performs other duties as assigned.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Predictable and regular attendance is required. Travel may be required.Subject to rotating shifts and/or week-end work schedules; exposed to weather (e.g. hot, cold, rain, snow). Exposure to: pet dander, infectious animals’ bites, injured and diseased animals, animal euthanasia.Stooping, crouching, reaching repetitive motion, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE: While Ohio has approved medical and recreational marijuana, the law does not require employers to permit or accommodate an employee’s use, possession, or distribution of marijuana. Greene County is a drug-free workplace.
