JOB SUMMARY:

The Head Softball Coach will be responsible for recruiting, coaching, planning, and managing the Greensboro College Softball program, with a primary focus on nourishing and enhancing the student-athlete experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to the NCAA, USA South and Greensboro College rules and regulations

• Recruits and retains qualified student-athletes

• Outstanding knowledge coaching and teaching softball

• Organizes practice plans and schedules contests

• Responsible for all aspects of practice preparation and competition coaching

• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and potentially holidays

• Plans and implements team travel arrangements

• Responsible for player development on and off the field

• Creates a budget plan, regularly monitors expenditures, and exercises budget control

• Plans and facilitates equipment and apparel purchases as needed

• Develops fundraising strategies to enhance the overall student-athlete experience

• Coordinates and develops community outreach programs within the Greensboro community

• Works with the Sports Information Director to promote the softball program and student-athletes

• Fully participates in athletic department meetings and initiatives

• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree required (master's degree preferred)

• Collegiate playing and head coaching experience is preferred, but not required

• Demonstrated successful coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level

• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain team culture

• Excellent organizational, leadership and time management skills

• Must have knowledge and experience in areas of student services, health and wellness, mental health, and physical fitness

• Effective communication and organizational skills with an understanding of student development, and higher education administration

• Excellent program strategic planning skills
