Position Summary: 

As the Associate Director of LSOC, your responsibilities will include overseeing the provision of comprehensive workforce services throughout the department, ensuring the delivery of metrics and deliverables, as well as strategic planning and coordination. You will supervise programming in the behavioral health setting and counsel individuals in recovery to support their work readiness and successful transition into employment. Additionally, you will develop partnerships and opportunities to advance career development for LSOC participants through training, workshops, and job placement initiatives. Your role will also involve strategic planning and coordination to align programs with organizational goals and objectives, ensuring the effective delivery of services and the achievement of desired outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and develop workforce rehabilitation counseling services across OASAS and Workforce Center sites.
  • Provide weekly supervision to the Workforce Counselor and assigned interns, fostering professional and personal growth.
  • Navigate assigned caseload to assess work readiness and support individuals in recovery in obtaining and maintaining employment.
  • Stay informed about evidence-based counseling practices, including Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused interventions.
  • Support career development for individuals entering treatment already employed or with work history.
  • Provide ongoing workforce assessments and counseling services to clients pursuing workforce goals.
  • Conduct job analysis, job development, and outreach to secure job placement opportunities and develop referral relationships.
  • Offer leadership and support to staff through one-on-one check-ins and team meetings.
  • Develop strategies for building partnerships with employers and securing job and training opportunities for clients.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper client assessments leading to referrals for wraparound services, including case management, financial literacy, training, and peer services.
  • Oversee the workforce team to ensure comprehensive employment preparation activities are provided.
  • Integrate the workforce team and services within the treatment process, serving as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Promote collaboration within the Workforce team and with other departments, including CFH, CRW, and OAN.
  • Create performance plans, set goals for staff, and track their performance.
  • Assist individuals with job accommodations and consult on assistive devices to support success in employment and school opportunities.
  • Promote and advertise job fairs, open houses, training, and internal LSOC events to staff, clients, and external partners.
  • Attend assigned internal staff meetings and external meetings with OASAS/NADAP, 1199, and partners.
  • Coordinate with the Workforce Director to address incidents and monitor staff at the center.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including workshops and counseling sessions.
  • Develop strategies for educating community members about LSOC's work to increase program enrollment.
  • Assist the clinic with de-escalation/conflict resolution during work operations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and track the collection of employment, education, training, and volunteer verification following OASAS guidelines.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork, progress notes, and statistics on time.
  • Monitor department technology, including the Resource Center and Computer Lab.
  • Design curriculum and facilitate workshops throughout the workforce department.
  • Design internal workforce forms: Assessments, Work-Readiness Tools, and Progress Notes.
  • Approve time cards for assigned team members on ADP and review time off requests.
  • Interview, hire, onboard, and train assigned team members.
  • Prepare and submit monthly vocational statistics for the OASAS VRSES Standards Report.
  • Provide financial review and assist in meetings for the Workforce Budget.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Workforce Director.
  • Develop and update Policies and Procedures Manual for the Workforce Department.
  • Seek and discuss grant opportunities for funding to support the growth of the workforce department.
  • Create retention metrics and track data to assess clients' progress, evaluating the program's success qualitatively and quantitatively, and modify based on outcomes.
  • Review and sign notes for the workforce team in both 10e11 EHR and Peer Place.
  • Maintain counseling standard of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies in job-related activities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling and/or related field and 2-4 years of experience in a behavioral health and/or workforce setting. 1-2 years of supervisory/management experience required.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with career/employment/education barriers in a behavioral health treatment setting. Understanding of mental health, disabilities, homelessness, ageism, LGBTQIA, criminal justice, and/or HIV/AIDS conditions/experiences.
  • Recognition of the importance of focusing on the assets of the person and utilizing evidence-based practices in counseling.
  • Knowledge of OASAS vocational regulations and requirements.
  • Abilities in assessments, and individual and group counseling to engage and maintain a caseload within the program and community.
  • An innovative and motivated individual who will bring creative approaches to the workforce programs and the undervalued populations we work with.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Perform outreach and travel independently to coordinate job placement opportunities within Greenwich House sites and external community partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills -- able to interface with all levels of staff within the organization, clients, and referring partners.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word for reports and data entry.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a plus.
  • Abilities in strategic planning, leadership, and program development.
  • A self-starter, working well without close supervision, willing to modify plans and behavior when necessary to meet a goal.
  • Ability to establish priorities and a course of action for handling multiple tasks.
  • Holds an LMHC, CRC, LMSW, or LCSW preferred.
