Position Summary

Teach art classes for children ages 3-6, approximately 2-3 hours per day, on Tuesday afternoons in the 2024-25 school year. Pay rate for the position is $51 per hour, and paid every two weeks via payroll system. Position begins with a school meeting on September 3, 2024, with lessons and classes starting the week of September 9, 2024. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Instruction and management of all Art classes.
• Two preps (ages 3-4 and ages 5-6).
• Prepare lesson plans and set course goals.
• Ordering and organizing of all art supplies.
• Attendance and participation for various staff meetings and/or professional development opportunities.
• Exude a positive attitude and be open to ideas of innovation and collaboration.
• Keep Director informed of progress and problems.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Art or Early Childhood Education, Master’s Degree preferred.
• Must have two or more years’ experience teaching young children and the ability to provide direct and indirect instruction.
• Develop lesson plans and curriculum that ensure the attainment of school goals and standards.
• Organize a stimulating and safe classroom environment and workspace throughout the school year.
• Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate directly and sensitively with parents. 
• Professional integrity and a strong sense of moral and ethical standards.
• Ability to satisfactorily perform other duties upon request by Director. 

Organizational Relationships

Facilitate ongoing communication and engagement with all levels of agency personnel and maintain external relationships within the social service community to the benefit of Greenwich House and their clients.
