Job Description

The Construction Quality Control Specialist is responsible for preparing test packages for piping and inspecting mechanical, civil, electrical, and structural work. Responsibilities include preparing turnover packages and managing any special projects when requested.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify contractual field work per Merck’s specifications and drawings
  • Oversight of activities affecting quality
  • Prepare all turnover packages and planning of tasks needed for completion for all crafts
  • Review and oversee placement of and inspections/tests of construction material
  • Review reports of grades, dimensions, and elevations
  • Schedule and track all weld tests for applicants and present employees (if applicable)
  • Review and approve contractor and subcontractor submittals
  • Ensure site/client standards are met during entire project
  • Complete all Construction Completion forms for each craft
  • Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
  • Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality control
  • 5 or more years of experience in Industrial Construction and in quality control
  • Ability to obtain a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification or meet Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) requirements in absence of certification; willingness to take classes to meet requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of quality control tools and methodologies
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to willingly make timely decisions and exhibit sound and accurate judgement
  • Strong communication skills (both listening and speaking)
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and implementation of solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to read drawings/interpret customer specifications, Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s), and Flow Charts
  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
