Overview

We are seeking a skilled Prior Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that medical services are properly authorized and approved by insurance companies, ensuring that patients receive the necessary care. This role requires a thorough understanding of medical coding, managed care, and insurance regulations. If you have experience in a medical office and are familiar with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding, we encourage you to apply.

Duties

- Conduct insurance verification and prior authorization for medical services.
- Review patient medical records to ensure that services are medically necessary and align with insurance guidelines.
- Utilize medical terminology and coding knowledge to accurately document medical procedures and services.
- Research and update knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain prior authorization for services.
- Maintain accurate records of prior authorizations, denials, and appeals.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve authorization issues.
- Stay current with changes in managed care and insurance regulations.

Skills

- Experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-9 and ICD-10).
- Strong understanding of managed care and insurance regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in dental office software or electronic health records (EHRs) is a plus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
