The Opportunity

Based in Denver, CO, our team serves tribal communities where GRID offices do not exist. We are offering a position for a Project Based Solar Installer to support the Tribal Program with solar photovoltaic installation and training.

Key Responsibilities Include :

• Assist Construction staff with installations of solar electric systems in a fast-paced, production-focused environment
• Strictly adhere to all organization safety rules and regulations, including COVID-19 protocols
• Assist Construction staff in staging, loading, and unloading equipment at construction warehouse and in the field
• As needed, prepare supplies for volunteer install days, and help to sign in volunteers on site
• As needed, print, scan, photocopy, and file documents

What you need to bring to this role

• Ability to work on your feet for an 8 hour day
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions in rural areas.
• Must be able to ascend / descend ladders to install solar panels on roofs.
• Ability to pass criminal background check in accordance with our installation partner’s guidelines
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Interest in and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, green jobs and / or helping families and communities in need
• Ability to adhere to all GRID Alternative’s COVID-19 health and safety policies
• Comfortable working as part of a team with field and office staff
• Comfortable working with culturally diverse Native American populations
• Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to rapidly growing organization
• Willingness to work on evenings and weekends
• Extensive travel throughout the United States with a focus in Washington, Colorado, South Dakota, Nevada and New Mexico.

It would be great if you also had

• Solar installation experience, electrical experience, general construction experience
• Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place
• Ability to work well with others and demonstrate a safe and positive construction site.

Where you will sit & the places you may go :

The Tribal Program operates and manages projects from Denver, CO. The Project Based Installer will support the Tribal Program staff on all aspects of the solar PV installation.

Travel outside the Denver metro area and outside of Colorado is expected and required. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and / or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, but applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($22 per hour), plus the benefits below.
