This Power Electronics Hardware Engineer would augment our power electronics engineering team developing the companys power electronics solutions and operate within a small non-hierarchical team of engineers. The successful candidate must be a fast learner, leveraging related project experience and education in electronics theories and methods to deliver diverse grid connected hardware solutions for single-phase and multi-phase power converter platforms. The individual must be a highly motivated self-starter and team player with strong ethics, committed to delivering industrial product quality and performance. The ERMCO-GridBridge team operates in an open, collaborative, and flexible environment to achieve the most effective use of all team members contributions.
Responsibilities:Position responsibilities as follows:
? EE Design Project background/experience (Sophomore, Junior, Senior)
? Working knowledge of electronics lab practices, construction & debug of digital & analog circuits using common lab tools and instruments (meters, scopes, analyzers)
? Good build, assembly, and hand-tool use skills for quick lab prototyping and wiring lab apparatus
? Good documentation and organizational skills
? Working knowledge of schematic capture tools
? Experience with microprocessors or programmable logic devices.
Experience with board- and system-level communications like ethernet/IP, CAN, I2C, etc.
? Self-motivated, self-starter, team player
? Strong ethics and dedication to deliver on commitments
Desired Experience and Knowledge for the Ideal Candidate:
? 1 to 5 years of experience in electrical engineering projects, preferably power electronics
related.
? Power electronics hardware design using Digital Signal Processors (DSP) and microcontrollers
? Knowledge of buck/boost, multi-phase/interleaved, DAB, LLC, and H-bridge topologies
? Experience with high power switching devices, such as Silicon FETs, GaN FETs and especially SiC FETs
? Mixed signal hands-on PCB design (digital/analog/power)
? Design verification for function and performance with hands-on testing and early simulation
? Familiarity with electrical distribution grid, AC power distribution and power quality concepts
? Designing PC boards for high-voltage and high-power applications, including safety isolation,
gate drives, current sensors, magnetic components, and isolated communications.
? Development of DSP software for power electronics control, protection, and communication
? Specification and design of 50/60 Hz and high-frequency inductors and transformers
? Experience working on team projects
Education or Equivalent (any of these may apply):
? BSEE, with 3.5/4.0 overall GPA or better, including electrical/electronics design projects
? Preferably MSEE with a strong power electronics focus including hands-on design projects
