GroupM is Hiring a Director, Corporate Communications & Media Relations Near New York, NY

GroupM, the world's largest media investment company, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations in North America. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Communications, this role will be a great way to grow in their career and be a communications leader
This will include working closely with executive leadership, marketing teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to craft messaging and positioning that effectively communicates GroupM's value proposition to external audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Overseeing comprehensive external communications efforts to support business objectives and enhance the GroupM brand, including but not limited company announcements, news stories, media inquiries, events, op-eds and more
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key media contacts/influencers to drive positive coverage of GroupM and its brands, strong rolodex a plus.
  • Managing crisis communications and issues management for the company, ensuring timely and effective responses to issues that may impact the company's reputation
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional counterparts, namely marketing and internal communications teams, to effectively execute holistic integrated communications plans tied to thought leadership and employee programs.
  • Managing brand presence at key industry conferences and events in partnership with event programmers, partners and executives.
  • Partnering with senior leadership to develop and deliver executive communications, including speeches, presentations, and other materials.
  • Aligning with external partners to support communications and media relations efforts
  • Liaising with key department representatives and content marketing teams to contribute to thought leadership content, including whitepapers, industry reports, and other materials that establish GroupM as a leading voice in the advertising and marketing industry
  • Monitoring and analyzing media coverage of GroupM and its brands, providing regular updates to leadership and making recommendations for how to enhance marketing organization
  • Staying abreast of industry trends/tools to identify and recommend best practices in corporate communications and media relations for broader organization
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field is typically required, along with 7-10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications or media relations. An advanced degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages that resonate with external audiences.
  • Proven experience in executing multi-faceted cross-functional launches and storytelling campaigns that resonate with key audiences and establish new bar for success
    • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team while managing cross-functional teams and external agencies/vendors
    • Deep understanding of the media landscape, including traditional, digital, and social media, and the ability to leverage media relationships to drive positive coverage of GroupM and its brands
    • Savvy approach to earned/social media and cross-platform content amplification
  • Interest in the state of media, entertainment and advertising, ideally with curiosity about brands, the economy, politics, pop culture and music
  • Proactive and determined professional spirit
  • Willingness to travel for onsite event support.
  • Experience in the advertising/marketing industry is a plus.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $100,000 to $230,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
