4th Grade Teacher Position

Grove Christian School has been providing Christ-centered education for over 45 years in suburban Richmond, Virginia. For the 2024 - 2025 school year we anticipate over 450 students in pre-school through high school. As a leadership academy for Christ, teachers are devoted to providing an excellent, engaging educational experience with a distinctly Christian worldview. Job Responsibilities: Full-Time position teaching a self-contained Lower School, 4th Grade Class.

• Integrates God’s Word and its principles in all curricular areas.
• Faithfully attends Faculty/Staff Devotions each morning prior to the start of school.
• Develops weekly curriculum and lesson plans that reflect the GCS curriculum guides. Serve as an instructional designer for students.
• Participates in grade level and lower school collaborative planning and goal setting.
• Maintains current attendance records and records grades promptly, consistent with school expectations.
• Develops a positive learning environment for all students and maintains an attractive and orderly classroom.
• Implements effective teaching strategies to promote student learning.
• Utilizes age appropriate technology applications that enhance student learning.
• Effectively communicates with parents on a regular basis to facilitate the development of the teacher - parent partnership, a core element of the GCS mission.
• Serves in co-curricular activities as assigned as an active participant in the Grove community.
• Dresses professionally and modestly.
• Seeks opportunities for ongoing professional development and works in concert with school administration in campus-wide and individual professional development activities.

Qualifications:The successful candidate will hold the following qualifications:

• Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures, and expresses agreement with the doctrinal viewpoints and Christian lifestyle requirements of the school.
• Must faithfully attend a local church whose beliefs are consistent with the school’s Statement of Faith.
• Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the GCS school community.
• Hold at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Hold state teaching credentials or ACSI teaching certificate or be eligible to obtain an ACSI certificate.
• Successful experience teaching Elementary students.
• Ability to maintain an effective classroom environment.
• Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the teacher to integrate Scripture into subjects taught.
• Must enjoy working with young people.
• Proficiency in computer and technology applications, especially the Google platform, necessary for the teaching profession.
• Must be able to perform the duties required related to a classroom teacher that include, but are not limited to; standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, actively supervising students in the building as well as at the playground, riding school buses or vans.
