PURPOSE
The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership:
· Oversee all aspects of plant performance, including production, maintenance, quality control, and shipping.
· Develop and implement strategies to increase productivity and efficiency while reducing costs.
· Ensure the plant operates at peak efficiency with minimum downtime.
Safety and Compliance:
· Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring all safety protocols and procedures are followed.
· Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
Quality Control:
· Implement and manage quality control systems to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations.
· Address customer complaints and issues related to product quality.
Human Resources Management:
· Hire, train, and develop plant staff to ensure a high-performance team.
· Conduct performance reviews and manage employee relations issues.
· Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Financial Management:
· Develop and manage the plant budget, including monitoring expenses and controlling costs.
· Analyze production data and financial reports to identify areas for improvement.
Continuous Improvement:
· Implement Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Lead plant projects and initiatives aimed at improving productivity and efficiency.
Communication and Reporting:
· Prepare and present regular reports on plant operations, performance, and productivity.
· Communicate effectively with upper management, employees, and external stakeholders.
COMPETENCIES
· Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in rubber manufacturing.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP systems.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the rubber manufacturing industry preferred.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work instructions.
MATH ABILITY
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
COMPUTER SKILLS
The incumbent needs a strong understanding of computers and printers
