Guadalupe Centers, Inc. is Hiring a Librarian, Part-Time Near Immokalee, FL

Description

SUMMARY

The Librarian position requires organizational skills to maintain the school library to meet the needs of students and instructional staff. The Librarian will create displays which encourages students to read.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates with teachers and parents to help improve library services
  • Provides attractive displays and settings to encourage reading
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the library environment so it is inviting and tour ready.
  • Create an organizational system for checking out and checking in books
  • Strategically create areas in the library that focus on ECE learning outcomes
  • Monitoring the inventory of the library books and resources
  • Provide training to teachers and parents how to use the library check out and check in system
  • Assists children and their parents, in finding material they want, answering reference questions and providing reader’s advisory
  • Assists in book selection of children’s materials and weeding of children’s collection
  • Prepare orders for any supplies and equipment within approved budget, following established purchasing procedures, and maintain and store such in safe and approved fashion and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
  • Checks library material in and out
  • Shelves library material
  • Performs related duties as required

NON- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains open communication with all staff members.
  • Ensures that attendance and punctuality are consistent.
  • Dresses in an appropriate manner for the position.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by management.
  • Ensures safety in the workplace.
  • Reports any accidents to management as soon as the incident occurs.
  • Provide a literacy enriched environment.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details required
  • Ability to speak fluent and communicate clearly in English. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Creole preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral format
  • Ability to interact with others at all levels in an organization by maintaining a pleasant attitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Multi-tasks and works under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with children 5 years old and younger
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Punctuality arriving to work and leaving at the specified scheduled times
  • Clearance through local state and federal background checks
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Ability to work inside the facility, on the school grounds, and on field trips
  • Ability to walk the equivalent of five (5) miles per day
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to kneel, sit, stand, and stoop
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Minimal lifting may be required, not to exceed 25 lbs
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
