Introduction The Members' HR Advice Service supports Members of Parliament on all matters related to the employment of their staff. Our aim as a team is to promote good employment practices and deliver a personal and tailored service to MPs by providing them with high quality advice and documentation.
The RoleAs a HR apprentice, your key responsibilities will include:
  • To develop knowledge and experience across the HR spectrum, including professional development through achieving the CIPD Level 3 Apprenticeship
  • To support Members' HR Advice in all admin tasks, and the MMSST team more widely where required.
  • Maintenance of appropriate paper and electronic records.
  • To manage their own and the MMSST HR Advice general inbox.
  • To respond to general / HR queries that come into the relevant inbox with support and guidance.
As part of this role, you'll undertake a HR Support at Level 3. This is the academic equivalent of two 'A' Levels.
We will enrol you onto the apprenticeship shortly after you join, and it will typically take 15 months to complete. You will complete training for 20% of your time, including from an apprenticeship training provider. Skills And ExperienceEligibilityThe following qualifications are required for this role:
  • GCSE (or equivalent) at A*-C/4-9 in English
  • GCSE (or equivalent) at A*-C/4-9 in Mathematics
Please note this role is an apprenticeship at level 3 (equivalent to A levels) and therefore will only be open to applicants who hold GCSE qualifications or equivalent. If you hold an equivalent level 3 qualification in the same subject or hold a degree or higher qualification or equivalent, you will be ineligible to apply.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
  • Excellent inter-personal and customer service skills, including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships, within a team and with the ability to actively help and support others.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including an ability to explain processes and to draft clear correspondence using Microsoft applications (such as Word or Outlook).
  • Able to organise, plan and priorities your own time, completing tasks within given timescales and to work unsupervised.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with care. Also ability to encourage and listen to diverse opinions and views.
