IntroductionThe Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) is responsible for physical and personnel security across both Houses of Parliament and provides support to Members and staff when away from the Estate. Its purpose is to keep Parliament safe and open for business.
PSD sets security strategy provides expert advice and delivers an operational service. It does this in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and by working closely with the Parliamentary Estates Teams, Serjeant at Arms and Black Rod's office, Restoration & Renewal teams, the Parliamentary Digital Service, and other key stakeholders.
The RoleThis role will report to the Head of Physical Security Advisory and Planning and will work closely with the Security Projects team and colleagues in PSD Operations, supporting the multi-million-pound Physical Security Portfolio. As well as supporting the portfolio, the role will have full responsibility for small scale projects from start to finish, with assistance where necessary from Physical Security Advisers and manage a central repository of "Restricted" information, being responsible for the audit and assurance of offsite locations and ensuring the security principles and standards are up to date.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
  • Support all aspects of project delivery as required, including production of project deliverables and activities. This will also include the development of any required business cases.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with and are managed in accordance with all statutory and external requirements and internal procedures.
  • Work with the In-House Services/Maintenance team to oversee the delivery of security-related projects.
Skills And ExperienceTo be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to identify priorities, deal with conflicting demands and take timely decisions and action
  • Experience of working with diverse groups of people, upholding the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion, ensuring that everyone is, at all times, treated with dignity, courtesy and respect
  • Experience of contributing in a timely way to achieving project or programme benefits, working in a collaborative, positive and supportive way to overcome obstacles
  • Understanding of project management principles and tools and experience of applying them to own work or that of others.
  • Experience in a project/programme/portfolio environment
