Description

GOH is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are looking for an energetic new team member experienced in administrative project management to support GOH’s NASA STEM Support Services Contract (NSTEM Contract) and serve our NASA OSTEM client.

Summary: 

The Education Project Manager (EPM) works with NASA personnel to oversee a portfolio of mission-related activities and projects. In this role, the EPM coordinates resources and processes to execute and deliver on-time projects and task-order requirements within budget with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives. The EPM oversees and is accountable for multiple concurrent complex activities/projects. The Education Project Manager serves as a bridge between NASA technical management, NASA internal and external stakeholders, and the GOH NSTEM team.

Background: 

The Agency’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education includes a common vision, mission, and focus areas that drive NASA’s endeavors in STEM engagement. The Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) is accountable for the strategic direction and leadership of the Agency’s STEM engagement function and efforts. NASA’s OSTEM focuses on (1) creating unique opportunities for a diverse set of students to contribute to the Agency’s work in exploration and discovery; (2) building a diverse future STEM workforce by engaging students in authentic learning experiences with NASA’s people, content and facilities; and (3) attracting diverse groups of students to STEM through learning opportunities that spark interest and provide connections to NASA’s mission and work. The Education Project Manager is key to GOH supporting NASA’s work in exploration and discovery. This task and the EPM position will support the Agency’s STEM engagement function and its leadership to be realize this strategic direction.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide federal-wide liaison support, encompassing logistical and strategic support in the planning and execution of STEM Board operations.
  • Provide logistical and strategic support in the planning and execution of NASA’s role in an international board including event preparations, meeting coordination, and working group logistical support.
  • Provide coordination for student attendance at an international conference.
  • Provide support for strategic partnership and institutional engagement activities and a variety of STEM education and informal educational events.
  • Provide cross-contract collaboration and integration as needed to support an enterprise approach to task execution.
  • Produce narrative and presentation documents, create education-based activities, and develop website contents for the NASA Advisory Council website.
  • Support ad-hoc OSTEM infrastructure project design, launch, and ongoing management for internal activities and initiatives.

Requirements

Competency (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Education experience (formal or informal) related to STEM
  • Strong project management, coordination, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of developing and executing STEM Higher Education activities
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging content and experiences for students
  • Demonstrates high level of professionalism in conduct, perspective, and all aspects of work
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan and maintain control of time spent on specific tasks, with intent to work smarter, not harder
  • Demonstrates proficient written and verbal communication skills in daily communication, client interaction, and work products
  • Demonstrated experience interacting and presenting to senior leaders and high-level stakeholders 
  • Ability to work individually and with others to achieve project and organizational goals
  • Understands and follows company standards to deliver consistent and predictable results
  • Demonstrates specialized knowledge and abilities within service areas
  • Demonstrates ability to plan, lead, and manage projects to deliver desired outcomes
  • Must have advanced proficiency in Smartsheet, MS Project, MS SharePoint, MS Office Suite, and a variety of virtual meeting platforms (i.e., Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Must be able to contribute to our positive and pro-active culture while working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and high-tempo team environment 

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Work Environment: The work environment is a Hybrid setting with onsite days at NASA Headquarters. 

Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing. 

Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 40-60 hours per week. Some job activities may be required outside of typical workdays/hours. Overtime is expected during peak periods. 

Travel: 20% local and regional travel, with overnight stays necessary 

Required education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree Required

Additional eligibility qualifications: A minimum of 6 years of industry-specific experience required.
