Job Summary:

The Race/Event Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Mountain Sports in a fun, fast-paced environment to produce “on mountain” events throughout the winter season. The Race/Event Coordinator will work with Giants Ridge staff and volunteers to set up, take down, and put on events throughout the season. They will also communicate directly with outside event coordinators to ensure that Giants Ridge is prepared to successfully host the event.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform set-up and maintenance of facilities/venues, including fences/barriers, snow and trash removal.
• Communicate with event coordinators to ensure the facility is prepared for each event.
• Work and communicate with other staff and departments to promote a positive guest experience.
• Event venue construction - installing various fences/barriers, tents, banners, cabling, etc. as needed.
• Maintenance and repair of equipment as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, insurance, health and safety aspects of event to ensure safety of all guests and staff.
• Notifies supervisor of all unusual events, circumstances, or other safety or quality control issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Mountain Manager and/or Directors.

SKILLS AND KNOWEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• High School diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required.
• At least one year of direct or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license.
• Read and write work-related documents in English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate verbal and written instructions effectively.
• Alpine and/or Nordic Race organizing experience
• US Ski and Snowboard official’s certification preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to Nordic and/or alpine ski/snowboard at an intermediate/expert level.
• Ability to perform work outdoors in all weather conditions including extremes of snow and cold.
• Able to lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. frequently, and 70 lbs. or more occasionally.
• Ability to use various had tools including, shovels, rakes and engage in repetitive pushing and pulling motions.
• Ability to safely operate snowmobiles, ATVs, UTV’s and other equipment on difficult uneven terrain.
• Must have the ability to engage in a wide variety of physical activities including walking, and working on uneven or slippery surfaces, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, squatting, etc.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.

EQUIPMENT USED

• Variety of off and on road transportation vehicles including UTVs, ATV’s and snowmobiles
• Communication devices such as phones and radios.
• Nordic/alpine Ski equipment
• Various equipment including hand tools, power tools, electrical systems tools, computer, portable radios.
• Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

Hourly Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour.
